Gina currently teaches harp at SBU as an Adjunct Professor. Gina also teaches piano, harp, guitar and voice in her home studio and online. Gina has performed harp with College of the Ozarks' symphony orchestra under the direction of Dr. Luke Carlson. She was principal harpist and pianist with the Southern Arizona Symphony from 2008 to 2011 and toured to China in 2010. Se began studying piano a age seven in Kansas City, Missouri, and added harp and classical guitar at Drury College in Springfield, Missouri. While at Drury, she received the Leadership Award, Competitive Scholar Award, and the Beverly Roper Piano Scholarship at Drury College. She studied with Dr. Sidney Vice and Tia Kirwin.
Gina was a member of the Mendelssohn's Performing Artist in Rockford, IL, and has performed with many ensembles, including the Ephrata Chamber Orchestra and the American Heritage Choir's Orchestra, The River City Quartet, and Any Olde Tyme in Peoria, Il. She formed her own harp ensemble and student rock bands and performed at the Erin Feis in both group and solo settings for 8 consecutive years in Peoria, IL. She was featured on the cover of Illinois Connoisseur Magazine with her harp while being the harpist for Jim's Steak House in downtown Peoria, IL.. Gina has performed for numerous civic and private events, including banquet dinners for Congressman Ray LaHood in Illinois, and the Superior Court Historical Society in Springfield, MO. She has served as a pianist for high school choirs and competitions for many years.
Gina toured with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra to China in December 2009 into January 2010, playing 7 concerts in 12 days in the cities of Beijing, Shengzhen, Donguan, Shengyan, and Dalian.
Gina teaches private harp, piano, guitar and voice in her home studio and at SBU as an Adjunct Professor on harp, and is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association, Missouri Music Teacher's Association, Springfield Area Music Teacher's Association, Springfield Federated Music Club, and Piano Guild College of Musicians. Gina has received the National Piano Playing Auditions National Honor Roll for several consecutive years and receives high honors in her Guild teacher critique forms. Many of her students have received music scholarships to continue their music education in college. Gina has had numerous students receive the Winner's Trophy for the entire state of Missouri at the MMTA STATE event on harp, voice and piano. Being a member of MTNA, MMTA, SAMTA, Federation and Guild maintains that Gina is constantly learning how to remain an outstanding teacher, and to give her students annual goals and opportunities to perform at State or National levels receiving awards, critiques, and scholarships.
Gina also teaches group classes at the PSHP music home school classes. She teaches Older Beginner Guitar Ensemble, Intermediate Guitar Ensemble, Advanced Guitar Ensemble, Classical Guitar Ensemble, Harp Ensemble, and High School Theory II classes.
